Capcom has finally announced the next Resident Evil game. According to Capcom, Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is in development and will be released in early 2015.
Rumors about the game have been floating around for some time now and last week’s leaked listing on Xbox.com, revealed the box art and a screenshot from the game. After last week’s leak, Capcom took the stage at Sony’s pre-TGS PlayStation press conference in Japan and officially revealed, Resident Evil: Revelations 2 with a very intriguing concept teaser trailer.
Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is the sequel to the original Resident Evil: Revelations, which was released for Nintendo 3DS in 2012. The game is being developed by the same team which developed the original game and will be released in early 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC. The game will feature 1080p full HD resolution and run at 60 frames-per-second on current-gen consoles and Windows PC. Surprisingly Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will not be available on Nintendo 3DS.
During the press conference, Capcom also revealed that the game will not feature Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine as protagonists, instead the story will revolve around Claire Redfield and Barry Burton’s daughter Moira. The game’s setting is a prison on an abandoned island somewhere in the sea and takes place between the events of Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6.
With the tagline “Evil is Watching”, the game is expected to follow Resident Evil 4’s gameplay and focus more on survival horror with limited ammo, unlike Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 which were more action focused. Capcom will reveal more information about the game at Tokyo Game Show later this month, along with a playable game demo.
