Facebook on Monday announced that it’s going to remove the chat feature form its Facebook messaging app and users will have to get the standalone Facebook messenger app if they want to chat with their friends on Facebook.
Facebook started doing this in April but only European countries were chosen to use a standalone Facebook messenger app but now the company is going to extend it all over the world and it’s going to be same from all the users on Facebook. The reason why Facebook is doing this is to create even more Standalone apps like the messenger app so that people would be engaged in using their apps.
A spokesperson from Facebook said that “In the next few days, we’re continuing to notify more people that if they want to send and receive Facebook messages, they’ll need to download the Messenger app. As we’ve said, our goal is to focus development efforts on making Messenger the best mobile messaging experience possible and avoid the confusion of having separate Facebook mobile messaging experiences’’.
User will still be able to check their messages on the Facebook mobile app but if they started sending a message in the Facebook mobile app they are going to get a prompt to download the Facebook messenger app to send messages though users can look at their pending messages but they can’y reply them except through the Facebook messenger app.
According to Facebook their messenger app is 20 percent faster than the in mobile chat. Well it’s not the first time Facebook has done something on their own without asking the suggestion of the users who use Facebook. The messenger is made available for all the platforms so everyone can get it, though signing into both Facebook and the messenger app can be annoying for some users.
