Google Glass is one of the wearable gadgets that makes you look both stylish and futuristic due to its innovative design but all of that comes with a hefty price of $1500 and was available for some users at first, known as the Explorers that wanted to test the gadget. Google recently had a one day sale over its Google Glass andafter just 12 hours Google was out of stock.

A latest report regarding Google glass claims that all the components that are used in Google Glass costs $80 overall. The report was presented by a website which basically tears down gadgets and other stuff to see what they actually cost. According to the report the most expensive part on the Google Glass is its processor which is an OMAP 4430 application processor that costs around $13.96, the camera costs $5.66, $3 for the display used and the 16 GB flash memory from Toshiba costs around $8.18. Combining these components with the rest of the in expensive parts the overall costs of the Google Glass was said to be around $80.

This was a rough estimate by the site as they said that they will do a more detailed estimate and will release it soon for the public. The overall manufacturing price can go as high as $200 to $300 but even then a $1500 price tag on the Google Glass seems rather high.

According to Street Wall journal a spokesperson from Google said that the teardown estimate was wrong and denied to comment further on it. Even if the tear down was right still Google has invested a lot into their Google Glass before coming up with it. It’s the same as Apple as their devices are expensive because of the research work put into it which costs a lot. Google did say that they have plans to come up with more affordable models in the future but haven’t reviled an exact price yet.
